Okehampton 4

Bude 3

OKEHAMPTON men's first team bounced back from their disappointing hockey trip to Bodmin last weekend with a solid performance to defeat their local rivals.

In the first 35 minutes the hosts were superb and dominated straight from the start.

Chris Luxton opened the scoring after 10 minutes against his former club with a reverse finish after a good run and cross by the Oke captain. It was not long before the home side double their tally when Mark Parsons was denied a clean shot on goal and the resulting penalty flick was converted by centre back Luke Liversidge.

The third came again from Liversidge and again it was a flick  which was won by Parsons as his goal bound strike was blocked on the line by an away players body. Running riot the hosts had more chances and the fourth soon followed with a swift counter attack Luke Miller found Chris Luxton and his cross was slotted home by Parsons.

With only one side in it at half time the game flipped completely on its head in the second period and the home side struggled to get any fluidity to their game.

Luke Miller for Oke earned a yellow card as did Parsons and with only nine the home side conceded two quick goals.

Things then went from bad to worse for Oke when Jonny Aylen saw yellow and reduced the hosts to eight. Bude struck again but as Oke got their playes back they started to respond and managed to see the game out.
