AFTER a successful 2013 season in recruiting 16 new members to the game Okehampton Bowling Club have entered a second team into the 71 Shield Triples League.
The club in Simmons Park, Okehampton, also have been able to enter a ladies team into the equilvalent shield for the first time since 2009. All these players will be able to take part in the many friendly matches arranged for the forthcoming season. As well as the above the club will once again have a team in the Exeter and district rinks league, and three teams in the over 60s league.
During the 2013 season the club, by committing 50 per cent of the income from the pub and league club plus other charity events run by the club, were able to support both the North Dartmoor Hospice team and Little Bridge House in North Devon. It is hoped to do the same this season for this year's charities the club is supporting — for leukaemia and Parkinson's disease.
New bowlers are always welcome at the club, as are those who may have stopped and now wish to resume playing the game.
The club opens for the 2014 season on Saturday, April 12.
