WITH it being the New Year, many of us are looking to try out a new activity, or get ourselves fit. For those looking for ways to get fit, get in touch with OCRA.

OCRA (Okehampton Community Recreation Association) delivers a wide range of sports, art, dance, and activity sessions throughout the year for children, youths and adults. OCRA has been pivotal in the development of new sports facilities in the area throughout its history.

The all-weather pitches at Okehampton College, play equipment in Simmons Park, and Okehampton Skate and Bike Park are just some of the projects the charity has been involved in, and in total OCRA has delivered more than £5 million worth of sport facilities for the area.

More than 70 local clubs and groups benefit from the support and promotion given by OCRA.

This year OCRA celebrates its 22nd anniversary, having become a registered charity in June 1992. The charity is working harder than ever to ensure that everybody in the Okehampton area has access to sporting facilities.

Their focus is not just on sports clubs, but also minority groups in the community who may otherwise be isolated from sporting opportunities.
