Lympstone 1

SOUTH Zeal secured a valuable three points at Lympstone on Saturday and fully deserved their win against a side that are in the top four of the league.

The visitors had the best of the early exchanges and after going close on a few occasions took the lead when Redd Cann was put through by Stuart Entwistle and and produced a slide rule finish with his left foot. The score stayed at 1-0 for South Zeal until 15 minutes into the second half when after a cross was cleared to the edge of the penalty area, one of Lympstone's forwards hammered a great equaliser into the top right hand corner of the Zeal net.

Lympstone now pushed on to try and get the winner and only some great defending by Tom Reilly, Lee Gilbert, Ben Davey, Dan Wakeham and Zeal's keeper Harry Geering kept them out.

However, the visitors weathered the storm and got the winner 10 minutes from time when Stuart Entwistle and Harley Cann put Darren Gilbert through down the left. Gilbert went past two defenders but was brought down inside the penalty area. Redd Cann stepped up to dispatch the penalty and gave South Zeal a much needed three points.
