HORRABRIDGE Primary School was the host venue for the District Sports School Dodgeball Tournament with around 60 children enjoying this unusual sport.
Dodgeball is a sport involving two teams who throw a number of soft foam balls, about the size of a small football, at the opposition — knocking them out by scoring hits on their body, which also earn points.
Organised by Steve Fowler and Lewis Russell of Direct Sports Plymouth, the competition is fast and frenetic.
Boys and girls play in mixed teams, the games being short and fast-paced.
Steve said: 'This is an activity where the kids can develop their agility, fitness and balance and demonstrate those skills in teamworking and competitive environment.
'This has been a fantastic tournament – well done to all!'
Six schools took part — Horrabridge Primary, St Andrews Buckland Monachorum, Tavistock Primary, St Edward's Eggbuckland, St Peter's Tavistock, and Bere Alston.
The winners overall were St Andrews, with their John Perry taking the player of the tournament award. Runners-up were Bere Alston.
The tournament is ongoing, and anyone interested in hosting or taking part should contact Steve via http://www.directsportsplymouth.co.uk">www.directsportsplymouth.co.uk
