CONSERVATIVE B climbed to joint second in the Tavistock snooker league with an emphatic 5-0 win over neighbours Conservative Z last Thursday.

The early games were anything but easy though as Monk ground out a close win over Morton courtesy of a fluked black ball, and Ewings had to dig deep to take a fighting Cath Friend again on the black ball.

An Evans 27 break knocked the stuffing out of Symons to take Con B 3-0 up, and the lead was stretched by Lillicrap who did enough to dispose of Ronnie McKechnie. McKechnie junior won a black ball finish over Dodd to make it 5-0 to Con B.

Three teams now battling it out in second spot is providing plenty of excitement in the league.

A weakened West Devon A gave in form Tavy A a run for their money before going down 2-3.

Ryall with a 25 break proved too strong for Heathman and Woods inflicted a rare defeat on Rich as the pair put Tavy A 2-0 up. Andy Lawrence produced a blinder to beat Hicks in only his first league game ever, while team mate Taylor was unable to get near Hoare as Tavy A went 3-1 up.

The deficit was reduced by Emptage who came from behind to take out Horrell. Both teams now neck and neck with Con B in second spot in the league.
