KELLY College swim squad concluded its ASA SWR age groups with six national qualifying times at Hengrove in Bristol. Swimmers from Kelly College achieved six new national qualifying times, collected five additional medals and broke another six Kelly College age group records while competing in Bristol during the second weekend of the ASASWR age group championships. Sixteen year old Toby Stanyer achieved his first ever NQT in both the 100m and 200m backstroke, posting times of 60.73 seconds and 2 minutes 12.20 seconds respectively. Cara Layden, aged 14, also achieved her first NQT of the season in the 100m freestyle, setting a PB of 60.76. Ben Staig secured his second NQT of the season, swimming to a time of 2.13.11 in the 200m backstroke, collecting the gold medal in the process. Ben also took gold in the 100m backstroke where he lowered his lifetime best time to 61.31. In the process, Ben broke two Kelly College age group records in both of the backstroke events. The final two national qualifying times were achieved by Louis Gautier and Harry Hathaway, who both set PBs in the 400m freestyle to post times under the NQT of 4.09.87 — Louis touched in a time of 4.09.48 with Harry just behind in a time of 4.09.54, which saw Louis break the 17 years Kelly College record in this event. Other medals were secured by Rebecca Carpenter, aged 11, who continued to dominate the breaststroke events, taking gold in the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.24.75. Rebecca also broke three Kelly records in the 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 400m individual medley. Kelly's final medallist was Jake Bentley, 14, who set some great PBs, swimming to silver in the 400m individual medley and bronze in the 200m freestyle. This performance takes the Kelly Swimming total of regional medals to 11 (5 golds, four silvers and two bronzes) and the number of individual national qualifiers to 18 in a total of 49 events.
