IN their first ever outing for the combined schools, the U13s from Mount House and Kelly College took on a good Blundell's XI in a 20-over match at home, and scored a notable victory by 18 runs. The combined team was made up of six players from the Mount House sixth form and five from the Kelly College second form. Blundell's won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. Mount House's Walliker and Kelly's Hawley opened the batting and reached 56 with some good stroke play and sensible running between the wickets before Hawley was run out for 15. Fulton (31) and Strand (16 not out) increased the tempo with some more aggressive stroke play, enabling the hosts to reach an imposing total of 121 for the loss of only two wickets, Jonty Walliker top-scoring with 48. When Blundell's began their reply, tight bowling from Walliker and Fulton applied pressure as the visitors saw the required run rate rise, and their task become increasingly challenging. In the event they ran out of overs at 103 for 5, and Mount Kelly had won its first-ever team fixture by18 runs.
