Okehampton ladies 5
Plymouth Marjons seconds ladies 2
OKEHAMPTON hockey ladies' first team welcomed Marjons on Saturday, eager to get even after losing to them in the first half of the season.
It was not looking good for the home side as the visitors scored within five minutes of the first whistle.
However, going a goal down made Okehampton even more determined to win and with vocal support from the injured Alex Osman from the sidelines Okehampton soon came back with a cool goal from Molly Petherbridge from the top of the D.
Okehampton's defence had plenty to do but Jane Jones and Carol Taylor were solid as always in the centre and player of the match Katie Adams refused to be beaten out wide with keeper Shannon Osman making some important saves.
Okehampton took the lead when Jo Moppet scored after some quick passes between Tara Davidson and Joey Drake through the midfield.
Petherbridge hit her second of the game when she got on the end of a cross from Moppett just before the half time whistle to leave the home side 3-1 up at the break.
Injuries left the Okehampton defence exposed and it was not long before Marjons came back and scored in a goal mouth scramble following a shot corner. But again this spurred Okehampton on, and Moppet scored another after some great team work from forwards Kim Davey and Winnie Rademaker allowed her to have a clear strike into the far corner.
Not long before the final whistle captain Lesley Bingham beat the keeper and slotted the ball across to Moppet to complete her hat-trick.
