THIRTEEN Mount Kelly swimmers made up the majority of the Devon team at the ASA Inter County Championships held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Dani Baker and Will Luckham-Down were selected as Devon captains and they led the team to victory in division two, ensuring promotion to division one for next season.

The swimmers selected from Mount Kelly were as follows: 12/13 years, Tom Brew and Ollie Taverner; 14/15 years, Finn Linton, Taku Chaza, Emily Cutler and Christy Gold; 16/17 years, Louis Gautier, Donovan McAntagart, Will Luckham-Down, Megan Bowen, Dani Baker, Leah Picillo and Jade Stocker.

All of the swimmers swam exceptionally well with many setting new short course personal best times. A total of three Mount Kelly age group records were broken at the meet by Ollie Taverner in the 100m breaststroke, Megan Bowen in the 100m freestyle and Julian Chan Quee Lin (representing Surrey) in the 100m freestyle.

Mount Kelly Swimming competed in the Plymouth City Annual Gala held at the Plymouth Life Centre.

For many swimmers, this was their first time competing for Mount Kelly, and the meet saw exceptional performances from many of its junior swimmers.

In total, ten Mount Kelly age group records were broken over the course of the meet. These were broken by Rebecca Carpenter (6), Kaylee Dekker (3) and Stephanie Carpenter (1).

The team claimed a massive haul of 144 medals (60 golds, 48 silvers and 36 bronzes).  

Following the conclusion of the competition, the BAGCAT awards were announced and Mount Kelly had a total of four winners, with many other swimmers placed in the top six. Those swimmers winning first place in the BAGCAT awards are as follows: 11 years, Rebecca Carpenter; 12 years. Kaylee Dekker; 13 years, Jacob Newcombe and 14 years, Georgia Martin.

Mount Kelly Swimming will now look to build in to the Welsh Capital Open Meet which is held at the Cardiff International Pool later this month.
