Okehampton 10
Newton Abbot 1
OKEHAMPTON faced Newton Abbot this week and started strongly with Jo Moppett quickly slotting the ball past the keeper.
Annebelle Rademaker soon followed suit but added another goal to make the score 2-0. Player of the match Kim Davey had a fierce shot from the top of the D, driving the ball into the bottom left corner scoring her first of the game.
Mistakes from Newton Abbot allowed Davey to score two more to get her hat trick. After more attacking play Rademaker added another to her tally making the half time score 6-0.
Newton Abbot came out fighting in the second half through the sleet and hail but Okehampton’s defence held them at bay. Okehampton were quickly on the attack again ensuring a second goal from Moppett and a third from Rademaker. A fast cross from Moppett allowed Hannah Whiteley to slot one past the keeper making the score 9-0.
Scrappy play from Newton Abbot allowed Laura Parsons to roll the ball under the keeper’s feet. Newton Abbot made the final counter attack which startled the Okehampton defence and despite valiant attempts from the Okehampton keeper Alice Wiseman, the ball crossed the line making the final score 10-1.

Okehampton 3rds 1
OKEHAMPTON ladies’ third team travelled to Cornwall to play Newquay seconds last Saturday.
Newquay were placed three positions higher in the league so Oke knew this would be a competitive encounter.
Oke were in control of the initial stages of the match with attackers Emily Rowlands and Larissa Goodger pressurising the Newquay defence. Emma Wiseman used her speed on the right attack to move the ball up the field and put in a cross in front of the Newquay goal.
Despite several saves from the Newquay keeper, Sarah Bazeley determinedly found the back of the net to give Oke the lead.
Newquay were soon on the counter attack and Oke were then dealt a blow when their strong defender Hannah Hawes took a hard hit on the knee and was unable to continue. Newquay then equalised from a controversial penalty corner and just before half time they took the lead resulting in a 2-1 score line at the break.
Oke began the second half with confidence and style passing the ball swiftly and accurately around the pitch with player of the match Molly Marvin controlling the midfield. Despite having the majority of the possession Oke were unable to penetrate Newquay’s strong defence and their dominant keeper.
Newquay were swift on the break, seizing any opportunity to strike at goal. They increased their lead from a speedy solo attacking run slotting the ball into the corner of the Oke net. Within minutes Newquay scored their final goal from a sensational diving shot.
Oke fought back and again kept possession of the ball but their lack of experience showed and, however hard they tried they could not add to their score.
