South East division one North Devon 7

Tavistock 3

TAVISTOCK took 10 men to Barnstaple with one man short and no substitutes.

Spirit was high enough with the return to the fold of Olly Cowen to accompany his brother, and stand-out player Josh.

Skipper Dale Wood prepped the away side taking the stance 'the best form of defence is attack' and a spritely start from Tavistock took the full strength home side by surprise.

Within the first 10 minutes Tavistock had created three good chances with decisive quick passing with Marcus Woods, Edwards, Stanbury, Unwin and the Cowan duo working hard. The finishing touch was not quite there however and the North Devon side countered and exploited the one man short defensive line up of Bellard, George and Wood. Keeper Mingo for the visitors did well with so much action.

Just a minute before half time Tavistock scored the goal they deserved - swift passing of Woods and Olly Cowen O led to Josh Cowan finishing in style gave his team a lift despite the score 5-1 to North Devon.

Two quick goals in the second half through Edwards' sort corner strike and another well worked from Tavistock man of the match Josh Cowan finish put the home side on the back foot. This even provided impetus for defensive back Bellard to take an inspired run leaving him in the D with space; however, the home side keeper deigned the dream finish.

Unwin, Olly Cowen and Edwards received knocks which did not help the visitors' cause. Wood at the back extended himself on several occasions making up for the shortfall in defence but alas North Devon were able to penetrate twice more before the final whistle.
