IN glorious summer sunshine on Saturday Okehampton Golf Club hosted a mens' fourball better ball open competition.
The overall winners were Matt Soby and Ray Piper from Okehampton. They had an amazing round with a score of 48 points, which included three two's the last of which was an eagle on the 18th.
Second overall were Keith Harkness (Okehampton) and Iain Morrish (Exeter) with 43 points. First visitors were Martyn Moon and Paul Hendy (Yelverton) with 41.
Best combination prize was awarded to Rod Wright (Oke-hampton) and Colin Tree (Lamberhurst) with 39 points. Winners of best Okehampton were Pete Kiss and Ollie Holman with 42 and second were Dave Tilley and Greg Vick with 41.
On Sunday the Dora Milner Mixed Trophy was contested the winners with a gross 90 net 68 were drawn partners Will Kinkead and Lin Hazelton.
The Okehampton ladies section played the September Medal/Breast Cancer Pin Competition. The winner of the silver division was Pam Jarman with nett 74, second was Cherry James with 76 and third was Penny Deakin with 78. In the bronze division the winner was Lynda Walker with nett 73, second was Mary Keir with 75 and third was Janice Thwaites with 80. The winner of the nine hole Stableford competition was Gladys Thatcher.
Last week the ladies played in their away day competition at a very sunny Bovey Castle. The winning team were Penny Deakin, Jane Warren and Pat Kirby.
