TAVISTOCK College has improved its sports facilities by having new equipment and a new all weather cricket wicket laid courtesy of a grant from the Lords' Taverners.
The grant was organised by Tavistock Cricket Club president Stuart Munday.
Tavistock College is now looking to extend a sports partnership with Tavistock CC, which will benefit both the school and the club, along with the 'Chance to Shine' initiative sponsored by the Devon Cricket Board.
Attending the opening ceremony were the new mayor of West Devon, William Cann and his mayoress, Christine.
Also attending were the chairman of the college governors Liz Faulkner, college principal Helen Salmon, college business leader Alison Horn, former England and Lancashire opening bowler Peter Lever, and Stuart Munday representing the Lords' Taverners.
The opening ceremony was followed by a school first XI defeating the staff by 34 runs and the day ended with a superb cricket tea.
