ON June 21 six members of Hurdwick Golf Club took on the Macmillan Cancer charity's 'Longest Day Challenge', where they attempted to play 72 holes of golf in one day.

The first tee off time, thanks to Martin and Jo Wood the course owners, was at 5.30am!

The Gardiner brothers Leigh and Mark took on the Ryder brothers Justin and Steve in a four ball, while Nathan Counter took on Steve LaRoche in a two ball.

The best two scores on each round from the four ball counted toward the competitive element of the challenge and both scores from the two ball.

Mark Gardiner equalled the course record on his last round.

The day itself was a complete success thanks to all concerned and it took those involved nearly 13 hours of solid golf.

It was a great effort by all the golfers who, thanks to their efforts, managed to raise more than £1,800 for the cancer charity.
