TAVISTOCK Swimming Club took eight teams to the Devon Relay Gala at the Plymouth Life Centre, a competition in the long course format (50m).
For many of the younger swimmers it was their first experience of long course swimming and they excelled in the experience of swimming against the top teams in Devon — Plymouth Leander (whose teams contained Olympic, world and Commonwealth medallists), Mount Kelly and Exeter City.
In the 17 events that the teams contested, they achieved 10 top six finishes, with many of the first leg swimmers achieving personal best times, including Thanae Garland who had a 24 second personal best time in the 100 metre backstroke, when leading off for the woman's open medley relay.
Representing Tavistock Swimming Club were James Anderson, Alex Francis, Cameron McGurk, Kieran Rookes, Jake France, George Morgan, Luke Stephens, Sam Bates, William Greep, Ryan Lillyman, Ieuan Noakes, Morgan Turnock, Callum Burden, Carter Davis, Alfie Morgan, James Meredith, Hamish Noakes, Tyler Hunt, Finley Adams, Theo Marshall, Izzy Teague, Harriet Edwards, Yvonne Carpenter-Warren, Amber Francis, Jessamy Clemens, Laura Meredith, Olivia Bates, Thanae Garland, Emily France, Daisy Morgan, Lucie Prior, Sarah Teague, Elena Prior, Beth Turner, Ellie Guy, Charlotte Walker and Hannah Walker.
