SEVENTEEN year-old Jess Eales from Yelverton has joined the lifeguard team at Meadowlands Leisure Pool in Tavistock.

Jess joined the Swim School at Meadowlands when aged eight and has worked her way through all the levels for learning swimming, completed the Challenge Awards, the young leader award and the rookie lifeguard programme to become a rookie 'master'.

Now Jess has completed her national pool lifeguard qualification and is working as a lifeguard. Jess is studying health and social care at Plymouth City College likes working with children and people with disabilities. She would like to eventually work in the police force or in social work. Jess also plays for Tavistock Ladies Football Club.
