Devon intermediate cup
Bar-Sol-Ona 3
Lamerton 0
AFTER eight weeks without a game due to the recent poor weather there was some excitement that this fixture was on.
Lamerton got off to the worse possible start when they found themselves a goal down within just five minutes. Centre half Steve Lake blasted the ball into his own net from six yards when trying to clear a low driven cross from the left wing. Lamerton found it hard to get into the game and struggled to keep possession of the ball on a poor playing surface. And it proved costly for the visitors when Bar-Sol-Ona went two up in the 20th minute. Jonny Wyatt picked the ball up for Sol after Lamerton again gave away possession. Wyatt drove forward unmarked from midfield and hit a fierce shot from 18 yards into roof of the net.
The game was put beyond Lamerton's reach early in the second half when winger Dave Davies scored Bar-Sol-Ona's third from six yards after some poor defending from the Lamerton back line.
Bar-Sol-Ona had the chance to get a fourth when Steve Lake brought down Davies inside the box. But the penalty was well saved by Lamerton keeper Pete Daniel. Despite being three goals down Lamerton grew stronger as the second half progressed but poor finishing in front of goal proved costly for the visitors.
n On Saturday Lamerton are home to Saltash in the Duchy Knockout Cup, kick-off 2pm.
