LAMERTON Pony Club tetrathlon team achieved some very impressive results competing in the Spooners and West Dartmoor Tetrathlon held in Tavistock last weekend.
Tetrathlon competitions consist of four phases - running, air pistol shooting, swimming and riding so competitors have to be dedicated and all round sports people. The Olympic Games have offered extra inspiration to the teams as many Pony Club members have crossed over to the Olympic sport of modern pentathlon (same phases as tetrathlon plus fencing) - Heather Fell being the local heroine!
Both Lamerton teams performed brilliantly both as individuals and teams, their results are as follows: Class 1 junior boys tri Edward Curtis 5th; class 2 junior girls 3ft Yasmin Steven 1st, Xavia Flashman 4th; class 5 minimus girls 11 and under
Katherine Curtis best ride, Lucy Steven first tri and tet with best run; class 6 novice mixed mini minimus Katy Miles 2nd tri and tet, Heidi Littlejohn best ride. Team results: Yasmin, Lucy, Katy and Edward 5th tri; Yasmin, Lucy, Katy 2nd tet; Heidi, Katherine and Xavia 7th tet.
