Carlsberg South West Peninsula premier Tavistock AFC 1 Falmouth Town 4 THE Lambs' efforts to move out of the relegation places took another blow when they lost to Falmouth, a team only two places above them in the league. The result ensures safety for Falmouth as the Lambs can no longer reach their tally of points. It is now two from Cullompton, Tavistock and Liskeard who will be relegated. The game was played in very poor conditions with a storm force wind accompanied by heavy rain. The Lambs had the wind at their backs in the first half but failed to take advantage of the elements. They played far too many long straight balls, which resulted in being too long and run harmlessly out for goal kicks. The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute when a poor clearance fell to Ron W, who fired home from ten yards. Within three minutes things got worse for the home team when Josh Robbins fouled Harry Evans in the penalty area, which Dan Richardson converted. The Lambs could not find a way to break down the visitors' defence as they went into the interval with a two goal lead. Any chance of the Lambs getting back into the game took another blow when Ian Rooke was sent off for foul and abusive language ten minutes into the second half. Even with this set back the team showed character, and possibly had their best period in the game during the ten men period. The home team pulled a goal back in the 80th minute when Ryan Lowton fired home a great shot, low into the corner of the net from 25 yards. The Lambs continued to push forward looking for the equaliser, and playing into the wind they almost scored when Alex Lowe went close. In the 87th minute the Lambs were caught short at the back as they pushed men forwards, and Evans fired home from 18 yards, to put the game out of reach for the home team. In time added on Liam Dent headed home to give Falmouth a flattering 4-1 victory. The Lambs now have a mountain to climb to get out of the relegation place, and it will take effort and total commitment by the players if they are to have any chance of success. On Bank Holiday Monday the first team are at home to Camelford, kick off 1pm.
