TO add to the Lambs' injury problems Andy Meed (hamstring) joined Dean Smith (knee) and Ryan Moorhead (foot) on the list of players not available for selection.

It was the home team that started the brighter but failed to convert an early opportunity, when their centre forward shot well wide of the target. The Lambs then gradually got their game together and started to put the home defence under some real pressure, without really creating scoring opportunities.

Centre forward Alex Lowe looked really lively up front, and it was his pace that resulted in a penalty being awarded to the Lambs in the 25th minute, when he was blatantly brought down in the penalty area. Neal Kinsman coolly slotted the ball into the corner of the net, to give the visitors a deserved lead.

Tavistock had the majority of the play for the remainder of the half, but some last ditch defending managed to prevent them increasing their lead. Twice goal bound shots were blocked by tackles by home defenders.

Early in the second half the Lambs should have increased their lead when a fine move saw Kinsman find Barwell free on the edge of the penalty area, but his shot from 18 yards went way over the bar.

In the 60th minute Tavistock's poor marking resulted in a Ben Water's pass putting Adam Gregory clear to chip the ball over the advancing keeper Castle to level the scores.

The home team took great heart from this and put pressure on the Lambs' defence.

Five minutes later the Lambs fell behind when poor marking resulted in Loughton bringing down Waters just outside the penalty area; the free kick saw Matt Lindsay unleash a thunderbolt shot that whistled past Castle and nestled in the top corner of the net.

The Lambs continued to press forward looking for the equaliser, but this meant they were always vulnerable to counter attack. The home defence was now under severe pressure and this resulted in the Lambs being awarded a second penalty when Ian Rooke was bundled over in the area. Kinsman rifled home the spot kick to level the scores with 15 minutes remaining.

The Lambs continued to put the home defence under pressure and had another two penalty appeals turned down but both were turned away by the referee. The scores remained level at full time.

Again this was another game that the Lambs should have won. The team must learn to be more clinical in their finishing, when they put opponents under pressure.

On Tuesday, March 25 Tavistock firsts are away to Cullompton, kick-off 7.30pm.
