Tavistock CFC Ladies 1

Budleigh Salterton 2

TAVISTOCK should have had this game wrapped up in the first 10 minutes as they started the far better team.

On the fifh minute mark Rebecca Gordon turned one player, ran past another and shot fiercely against the crossbar and bounced down, with Hammond nodding home the rebound.

Play was fast and furious with Tavistock having all the play but they were hit by injuries to forward Becky Gordon and defender Carleigh Bammens and they could only field one sub.

Ali Hurley settled into midfield while newcomer Jade Wilmott played sole striker as Hammond slotted in at the back.

The defence of Hammond, Hould, Philip and Coker remained strong to go into the second half a goal up.

Bammens struggled to run and Hone and Jones with McMullin having to chase back saw Tavistock stuck in their half. Lauren in goal for Tavistock pulled off some good saves.

Tavistock could not find the net again and when a break backfired they were caught upfield and a fast forward broke to slam the ball home to equalise.

Tavistock never gave up and battled to keep the ball out of their area but in the dying seconds they were caught again and paid the price losing a match they could have easily won.

Tavistock player of the match went to Kirsty Jones and Rachel Hould.
