Tavistock ladies 2

Marjon ladies 2

WITH Tavistock only just sitting above Marjon ladies in the league this was always going to be a close game.

Both sides came out strong from the start and the pace of the game showed it. Unfortunately for Tavistock it was the away side who broke through and took the lead following a quick attack.

The Tavistock backline of Scott, Mills-Hicks, Colston and Boulle worked hard to keep the ball clear and an incredible save from Viggars to keep Tavistock in the game.

The ladies broke quickly from defence and played Gaspar through the middle who cleverly fed the ball onto Lamb, who took it passed the Marjon defence and set Donelly up on the post to bring the score equal.

With the girls on a high it was not long until they took the lead, from a well worked short corner between Lamb and Armstrong.

The Marjon ladies stepped it up another notch in the second half and put the home side under great pressure; the Tavistock squad though worked hard as a unit throughout the second half but were unfortunate to concede a goal in the last 10 minutes. The game ended up as a 2-2 draw and leaves the two sides on joint points, with Tavistock just pipping second place in the league on goal difference.
