TEN Kelly Preparatory Year 5 and 6 children battled through sleet and snow to take part in the National Biathlon finals at Crystal Palace last month.
Each age group consisted of the fastest 72 biathletes in the country so competition was fierce!
Each child had to complete a 50 metre swim and a 500 metre run. The Year 5 boys team —Matthew Twyman, Isaac Staig, Toby Bower and Marcus Coleridge — did superbly well and landed a fourth place in the team competition, The Year 5 girls team, Lottie Trevethan, Katy Miles and Charlotte Harris, took a brilliant silver medal position.
Lottie Trevethan then went on to complete an excellent biathlon debut with a fifth position in the individual competition. The Year 6 girls also finished in a superb second place, the team consisting of Gabrielle Wardle, Isabella Dunlop and Natasha Farrington.
The highlight of the day was receiving their medals from Team GB athlete and Olympic silver medallist pentathlete Heather Fell.
