OVER the years Tavistock Golf Club's Ladies Club Championship has produced some great golf and this year was no exception.
Finalists Kayleigh Cann and Gilly Jarvis played some excellent golf but, in a close match, Kayleigh won on the 19th — with great golf from two top players.
In the qualifying round of the Daily Mail Foursomes scoring was tight. However, Roma McMahon and Norma Thewlis won the day with 37 points, beating on count back Maggie Hillman and Dawn Phillott and Peggy Burge and Dawn Dennis. Roma and Norma will represent Tavistock in the next round in January.
The Caddies' Trophy was played in conjunction with the October Stableford and, despite strong winds and blustery showers, the weather did not deter 32 ladies taking part.
Sally Hills was first in division one with 33pts; second Donna Gage 32pts on count back from Bridget Luckham and Belinda McSherry.
In division two Norma Thewlis had 28pts; second Marilyn Allen 27 pts on count back from Marion Stenhouse. Winner of the trophy was Janet Kiely in division three with 35pts, second in the division was Mary Lyddon 23pts on count back from Barbara Porter.
In the Greenkeepers Trophy Jerry Bawden won the day with a superb 45 pts; second Mark Taylor 41pts on count back from Ben Philpotts, Monty Congdon and Patrick McMahon.
