Tavistock U15s 67 Stonehouse Sharks U15s 14 TAVISTOCK completed the season in style against a Stonehouse side missing several key players. Tavistock started the game at a blistering pace and made good use of the firm dry pitch to get the ball wide at every opportunity. Flying winger Billy McNicol showed a clean pair of heels to the away side's defence and rounded the fullback and winger to score a fine opening try under the posts. George Hillson added the conversion. The long-legged Cameron McKie ran in from the twenty two for Tavistock's second, which Hillson converted before Billy McNicol, who was excellent with the ball in hand all game, again showed his pace to race into the corner. The try of the game came next with a neat exchange of passes from Dan Willis and Ben Milligan creating space for Ethan Lamerton to score in the right hand side. Full back Bernie Sadler also showed his pace, latching on to the end of a flowing backs, move and racing around to score under the posts, Hillson again expertly converted. Stonehouse dug deep after this early onslaught and strung together several phases of play to score late on in the first half. Tavistock, however, were in no mood to let them back into the game and Ethan Lamerton soon scored his second with Hillson converting right at the end of the half. In the second half Stonehouse started the brighter and their strong forward drives soon led to their second score. The home side's forwards kept the pressure up, however, with Ben Luke securing several turnovers and Scott Morris, Will Gardner, Steve Kirby, Harry Jeans and Theo Cousins challenging at every breakdown. George Murrain showed his rugby skills moving from hooker to fly half in the second period and he looked to keep his side moving forward with some slick handling and deft kicks. Scrum half George Hillson commanded the base of the scrum and ruck and looked to keep Stonehouse on their toes by mixing his passing between forwards and backs and some clever box kicking. The latter stages of the game saw Ben Milligan weigh in with two tries. One was expertly converted by Hillson from nearly on the touch line while the second was after an exquisite pass from the scrum half which enabled him to catch the ball at full pace and race clear. Captain Theo Cousins got a much earned score after driving over from close range before Chris Watts showed a lovely step and turn of speed to end up in the corner. Ethan Lamerton brought the game to a close by completing his hat trick. This game concluded what has been largely a successful season for the U15's side. Six of this year's team were selected and represented the Devon Schools side — Theo Cousins, George Hillson, Harry Jeans, Ethan Lamerton, James Lewis and Ben Luke, and with a full summer's training programme ahead of them the club are hopeful that more will be selected in the U16 set up. Tavistock U12s 5 Middleton U12s 10 BOTH teams needed a win to go through to the semi-finals and fought tooth and nail for possession.
