Okehampton U15s 19
Devonport U15s 27
DEVONPORT showed their intentions from the start using their weighty forwards to pick and drive. The Okehampton lads dealt with this well and the defense held strong for a long period of play.
Eventually the visitors broke through to get their first points and it was not long after when they extended their lead. This seemed to rally the home side who started to venture into the visitors 22 area and Daniel Thorne crossed the line to score for Oke.
The second half saw Devonport start even stronger than they did at the beginning of the match. Their efforts were rewarded with two early tries. Okehampton might of folded at this stage but the troops rallied and took the game back to Devonport.
Daniel Thorne adding his second try and Oliver King scooped up the loose ball from a line bullied his way over.
With all to play for and the match drawing to a close the tackles got bigger and the rucks harder. In the final minute Devonport were awarded a penalty in front of the posts, they chose to kick to seal victory.
This was a fine physical performance from both sides with a game that could of gone
either way. The Okehampton side although disappointed with not winning should hold their heads high producing what was a good game of rugby.
Conversions were taken by Daniel Thorne and James Bowden.
Tavistock U15s 12
Teignmouth U15s 29
TAVISTOCK were brought back down to earth with a bump after defeating Kingsbridge last week.
While captain Theo Cousins tackled fearlessly throughout the game this was not enough to stop a big physical Teignmouth side. The score did stay at 0-0 for the first 15 minutes or so but pressure from the away side led to Tavistock making handling errors and conceding four tries in the second part of the first half.
Playing down the slope in the second half and with the introduction of George Hillson, Billy McNicol, Billy Rowe and Steve Kirby from the bench the home team started to get a foot hold in the game.
Although Teignmouth scored again before Tavistock really started to wake up. Hillson kicked cleverly throughout the half and this seemed to break up the game a bit. Some slick handling saw Ben Milligan race in from deep and side step the full back to open Tavistock's account. The strong tackling of Billy Rowe also disrupted Teignmouth and after superbly catching his own kick Hillson kicked again for centre Ethan Lamerton to field the ball and race into the corner.
Tavistock defended bravely to not allow Teignmouth any further score with Cameron McKie and James Lewis showing good levels of fitness to keep challenging right through until the end of the match.
Okehampton U14 7
Devonport Services U14s 0
AFTER a recent disappointing defeat against the same side in the county cup, Okehampton gained revenge of sorts after this mud strewn victory.
Services are a side that likes to move the ball wide, so the sticky wet conditions that greeted them up the slope in the first half were not as they wished.
Oke used their forwards to good effect down the slope first half to put the visitors on the back foot. However they only managed a solitary score after their territorial dominance, Ethen Hoggins bulldozed his way over the whitewash from short range after good work form fellow forward George Ogbourne, who had his usual strong performance. Ben Mckenna Smith converted just before the break, but the Okes still had to hold out until the interval and were grateful to full back Henry Harbron, who made the first of many superb defensive tackles to prevent the score.
Up the slope in the second half, Oke made changes but kept their line intact. Ethan Hoggins made good yardage form number eight, and the defensive line held firm as Services gleaned more possession but were unable to use if effectively. So it remained 7-0 at the final whistle, after a solid home performance in difficult conditions.

Devonport Services U13s 60
OKEHAMPTON U13s were outmatched on Sunday as Devonport arrived with an enviably large squad and played with military precision.
Their backs were admirable and consistently passed the ball out at pace to run through some good defending but not quite good enough by the home side!
Plus points for Okehampton were the continual tackling and rucking from Noah, who scored his side's only try. Daichi, Brad S and George H played well and a good physical game was played by Brad B, Joe S, Dan and Nathan. Without their resolute performance the score line could have been worse.
Oke's Liam played well at number nine picking the ball out of the back of the scrum, his distribution improving with each match.
Wadebridge Camels U12s 0
Tavistock U12s 21
THIS was a close run game as always with these two teams. Two evenly matched packs slugged it out for possession with honours fairly even; Tavistock edged the lineouts, thanks to James Roisseter and Harry Richardson but Wadebridge were slightly ahead at scrum time.
The telling difference was in the back line. Tavistock pressured every Wadebridge pass with centres Sam Essex, James White and Ollie Sampson creating havoc pushing Wadebridge onto the back foot and fly half Harry Edwards distributed well to free the backs out wide. Harry was rewarded with Tavistocks' first try after stretching the defence wide.
A second try followed after some quick thinking at the back of a ruck by Jaxom Cann to put Henry Varndell-Dawes through for a stroll over the line. A further try form Henry sealed the win but once again the scoreline did not reflect the ferocity and passion with which Wadebridge played and pushed hard to the final whistle Conversions came from Harry Edwards and player of the match was Ben McKenzie.

Tavistock gritted their teeth and ground their way back into the game with a solid period of pressure in the second half resulting in a series of five metre penalties with Henry Varndell-Dawes eventually powering through the tiring defence. Edward Tait stepped up to calmly convert under pressure to equalize a minute before the final whistle.

PLAYED in dry conditions, the scoreline did not reflect the overall performance of Devonport.
Both sides were up for the game, with Okehampton gaining the upper hand in the rucks, while Devonport were dominant in the scrums and lineouts being even.
Barnably Waddell and Cole Pengelly opened the scoring for Oke, with Pengelly breaking the Services' defence, while Waddell crashed over from five yards.
Two more tries followed by Will Cunningham and Greg Haste, who returned wayward Services kicks with real pace. James Close picked up another try just before the break, after good rucking from the forwards opened up the spaces for him to touch down.
After the restart, Services pulled back a try of their own, after some good scrummaging. Joshua Burgoyne then side stepped his way to the line for the first of two tries. Back came Services again with another forwards try, before the game was rounded off by a try in the corner for Daniel Tomkins, after some sound handling.
Sonny Luxton, Jordan Wilson and Saul Holliday all returned the ball well from restarts, setting up good go forward play. Jack Rutley, Jake Laing-Taylor and James Stevens all acquitted themselves welll in the pack, while George Cox, Robert Whitby and Harry Laing-Taylor all played with purpose on the wings. Joshua McCulloch rounded off the day, showing his versatility in the centre, with a great all round game. Well done to both sides for a good competitive game.
