Tavistock U13s 39
Plymstock Oaks U13s 5
WITH new additions to the squad, Tavistock looked in dangerously good form from the outset.
Morgan and Bailey drove the ball deep into Oaks territory delivering clean ball to spin wide and see Joe P in at the corner. Al converted. The resulting scrum and a charge by Morgan released Jake and Ffin who were unlucky to be held up on the line. With the ball retained at the five metre scrum, clear thinking, speed and strength saw number 8 Toby pick up and drive in the second.
Keeping the pedal firmly pressed, a great run down the wing by Reuben was held out by mere inches. Moments later the ball was spun wide again through Al and Max to see Ed in for the third.
Now it was the Oaks turn to attack and two superb tackles by Max initially held the Oaks charge down the centre. However a conceded penalty and solid work by the Plymstock pack resulted in a score. Tavistock came back hard as Toby scored and Al added the extras to make it 24-4 at half-time.
Tavistock took control of the second half. Al's probing kick, a great tackle by Bailey and solid forward play in the loose gave Reuben the space to land in the corner.
Jai showed pace to keep the pressure on and a Ben R charge and quick hands and determination led to Nathan scoring another. Despite the score line, Plymstock never gave up. Only hard work in defence held them out. Nathan, Jasper, Jake, Max and Ed in particular made try saving tackles.
The final try came when Jack M broke through the Oaks defence and rolled through a crunching tackle with Ed in close support to receive Jack's well timed pass and seal the game.

Oke put in at the scrum but despite the Oke forwards digging deep Ivybridge closed down on their opposition and from that moment on the game belonged to the home team. With a sweet offload in front of the posts the Ivybridge backs broke through to score their first points. They continued to dominate possession and Oke's defensive game was no match as the first half ended 21-0 to the home team.
The second half started with a ruck and as Ivybridge had a superior rucking and mauling game throughout Okehampton were again playing in defence. In sticky, cold conditions both teams remained undeterred and towards the end Okehampton began to come alive.
Strong tackling from Oke's Alex, Jim and James stopped the score from running away, but with all the forwards from Ivybridge driving each rolling maul it enabled them to reach within striking distance for their last try before the final whistle blew.
