Okehampton U12s 17
A DRY day but a muddy pitch awaited Okehampton and Tavistock on Sunday.
Despite tremendous efforts from Tavistock, they went down 17-0 to a strong Okehampton side.
A late try in the first half and a quick try at the start of the second half undid Tavistock.
The packs were evenly matched and great work by Joe Burbage, Morgan Turnock, John Lord, Archie Allen, Jason Blake and Tom Pearson helped keep Tavistock in the match.
Lochlan Fulton led the backs for Tavistock with Jack Smyly, Gerorge Kharas, James Paxman and Olly Noy Scott but the muddy conditions made it very difficult to get the ball moving quickly.
There was no lack of effort from the players but special mention must go to Jude White for his try saving tackle and Peter Bull for his ability to switch from the backs to scrum at a moments notice.

A TOUGH, muddy forwards game unfolded as Tavistock hosted the Okehampton local derby. Both teams vied for possession from some fierce rucks and big tackles. The Tavistock front row of Harry Richardson, Reuben Coleman and Ben Mckenzie met the challenge head on and locks Noah Berridge and Jack Bellamy pressurised the Okehampton possession well.
James Roisetter and Matt Davey made good impact coming on in the second row with James opening the scoring after darting over from the back of a ruck.
Both teams tried to play flowing rugby but the conditions prevented it. Dan Pett, Edward Tait and Harry Edwards distributed and controlled the Tavistock game well as half backs while the home defence held solid with Tom Scott, Ollie Sampson, James Kenyon and Kiran Warner halting numerous attacks through the centre and Cameron Hart and Tom Persse on the wings.
Probing runs from player of the match Ben McKenzie, Kiran Warner and Henry Varndell-Dawes wore down the Oke defence and created the chance for Henry to sidestep over for Tavistock's second.
A third try came after some concerted and co-ordinated forwards play with Harry Richardson crossing the line at the back of a great rolling maul. Conversions from Henry Varndell-Smith (2), Harry Edwards and Edward Tait, rounded off a hard fought win for Tavistock against a resilient Okehampton side.

Okehampton U9s 4 tries
DUE to the weather this was the first match of the year for both teams, and it turned out to be a cracker!
Despite the rain sodden pitch both teams produced some good rugby but Tavy, seeking revenge against the only team who beat them last season, proved the best team in the first game.
The Tavistock boys took control from the off and were as committed in defence as they were in attack forcing Okehampton into making errors. Fine passing rugby from the home team resulted in a deserved 4-1 lead at half time.
Oke came out strongly in the second half and scored a couple of tries. Tavistock responded and piled on the pressure to win 8-4 victory.
Captain Alex Richardson scored three superb tries while player of the match Joe Wheeldon scored two; Ben Pitt (2) and Toby Noy-Scott completed the scoring for Tavistock
Tavistock U9s 1 try
Okehampton U9s 7 tries
Having made all their mistakes in the first match, Okehampton played much better and deservedly won the second game against a completely changed Tavistock team. However, the score did not reflect the effort put in by the Tavy team who kept going until the end.
Captain Henry Nettleship played well as did Tommy Murrin who was a tower of strength in the team. Jonathan Griffiths scored the try for the home team.
