Devon plate
Kingsbridge U14s 17
Tavistock U14s 10
TENSIONS were high in this semi-final plate match and Kingsbridge opened the score with a converted try run in from the half way line - despite great running from Tavistock's Joe Sellars, a big tackle from Angus Hogg and a superb dummy pass from Harvey Curtin.
After the restart several penalties led to a scrum from which Tavistock passed down the line enabling Will Paull to put across Tavistock's first try.
There was good play from all the Tavistock team and a turn over ball saw Ollie Woods pass down the line to the wing before play was stopped for an offside infringement and moved to the Tavistock five metre line. Kingsbridge put away their second and third tries in quick succession without conversion.
After half-time the visitors came out with renewed vigour. They constantly tried to break through Kingsbridge's strong defensive line. Runs and tackles from Charlie Fethney and Angus, as well as Luke Dean and Alec Hamden-Smith kept the pressure on. Kingsbridge had a try disallowed for a forward pass. A similar incident happened just a short while later to Tavistock, denying Will Paull his second try. Eventually the determination of the visitors won through with drive over by forwards allowing Charlie to touch down for a Tavistock try. Harry's conversion though on target was charged down by an enthusiastic Kingsbridge player.
Robust defence meant that Tavistock were unable to even the score. Tavistock can be proud to have reached the semi finals and approach their Welsh tour in April in fine shape.
Okehampton U14s 27
Torquay U14s 5
THIS match was a far harder contest than when the two teams met earlier in the year, when Okehampton ran away with it.
This time Oke had to work for their scores, and equally had to repel some concerted attacks from Torquay.
In a game dominated by the forwards, Ben Arnold was the first to crash over for an Oke try. Playing at flanker Pat Ewen was on hand to finish another drive from the forwards 10 minutes later. Torquay came back on the stroke of half time to dot one down to make the scores 10-5 at half time.
In the second half Okehampton started to dominate a little more with Hallum Chapman finishing off yet another attack by the forwards. Jacob Horn added the extra points. Further tries from Pat Ewen and Brandon Horn saw Okehampton run out winners in their last game before they go on tour.
Paignton U13s 0
Okehampton U13s 24
Bude U13s 5
Okehampton U13s 22
OKEHAMPTON travelled to Bude for a mini festival against the home side
Bude and the touring side Paignton.
Okehampton started the stronger in both games taking the ball to the opposition. The hard training over the last couple of weeks started to pay off with Oke's pick and drive tactics the opposition found it difficult to live with or find any momentum to their game.
Some strong running from Bude in the first half did see them cross the line. However it has to be said both teams defended strongly and made the Okehampton side work hard for their wins.
Everyone in the Oke team should be proud of their performance, especially the forwards. Try scorers were Joe Mawle, Daniel Thorne, Liam Pyle and Harry Elliot. A special mention to Reese Foster,
Craig Pengelly, and Harry Elliot who played their first game for the club and all played exceptionally well.

Time just ran out on Tavistock and they we left rueing some crucial missed tackles. Olly Noy Scott was the Tavistock player of the match.

TAVISTOCK faced a well drilled, well disciplined and skillful Newton Abbot side and were outgunned and out tackled for most of the game.
Newton Abbott's strong presence at the breakdowns and scrums put Tavistock on the back foot for most of the first half and using the width well Newton Abbot ran in four tries by half time.
Tavistock forwards Harry Richardson, Jack Bellamy and Dylan Owen and scrum half Dan Pett worked hard to retain possession and this started to pay off in the second half where Tavy retained more ball and made some good attacks into the solid defence.
Reuben Coleman picked up a loose ball from a five metre ruck to score his first try for Tavistock. However the solid wall of defence kept Tavy from any further tries with Newton Abbot running in a further three tries.

MUCH better ball retention and possession by Tavistock gave Harry Edwards the chance to put Tavy ahead, only for Newton Abbot to reply midway through second half.
Good line-out work from hooker Cameron Georgel and much improved scrummaging from the pack gave Tavistock a stronger position to launch attacks but a plucky defence and good use of the touchline kept the score at one try each.

Tavistock kept up their strong run with a bruising and aggressive performance against Liskeard.
The key to their success was strong defence which meant Daniel, Isaac and Tom were able to rip the ball off them in the tackle and let the backs run. Billy and Toby linked up well supplying some superb tries, and Daniel and Isaac had some great individual runs to score.
Tom had a cracking game while Logan gave a whole hearted performance in the forwards.
