The hunt for the worst football pitch in mainland UK is drawing to a close.

Since the beginning of 2014 a nationwide competition, Pitch to Win, has been seeking to find the worst amateur football pitch in the country. The closing date of Friday 28 March is now looming.

The winning club will receive a £3000 pitch makeover from the outdoor power equipment specialists, Briggs and Stratton, and two runners up will receive £500 for their club kitty. All winning teams will win a season's sponsorship and a new kit.

The competition has been launched by Briggs and Stratton to highlight the importance of local football teams in communities and to help them improve their facilities. With the recent awful weather and flooding the competition has perhaps come at a key time with hundreds of games across the country being cancelled due to bad pitch conditions.
