INVICTUS Games cyclist Andrew White from Okehampton flies out to Canada today in readiness for the World Games that starts this weekend.
Andrew, representing Great Britain, will compete in two events, on Tuesday a time trial and on the following the day Criterium event.
Andrew, a former soldier and Afghan veteran, who was medically discharged from the Army after a severe non-freezing cold injury to his feet has been training hard for the event. He suffered a nasty bike crash just two weeks ago which resulted in him being taken to hospital. Fortunately his injuries were only skin deep and he was back training within days.
His race bike was bought back into competition condition following the crash by
Okehampton Cycles and a local bike box company has given him three specialist bike flight boxes to transport his equipment across the Atlantic for the games. The opening ceremony is on Saturday.
