OKEHAMPTON Ladies' Netball League's 2013/14 season started with some excellent netball despite the long break for some of the teams.
With a few team changes to the league this year it looks as though there will be some high scoring and interesting results to look forward to.
Falcons 59 v Dodgers 25
IN the first division Falcons played Dodgers in what started as a very close match.
Dodgers took an early lead and Falcons looked a little unsettled however they soon found their form and were winning the first quarter 15-7.
The next two quarters saw Falcons increase their lead despite some excellent defending. Dodgers seemed to rally in the last quarter, however they had left it too late and Falcons started this season with a comfortable win.
FBI 48 v Hawks Tor 24
ANOTHER first division match and another close start but FBI looked in control from very early on leading the whole match. Hawks Tor had a great third quarter and began to erase some of the deficit, however FBI were never under any real threat and won the match by 24 goals.
Bradford Belles 49 v Busy Bees 29; Jesters 31 v Lifton 19; Honey Bees 65 v Illuminators 5
September 17 match results:
Sparks 34 v Starburst 24
RELEGATED from the second division, Sparks were set to make their mark and they started this match with determination and accurate shooting.
The young Starburst team settled into the game and started to chip away at Sparks lead in the second. Sparks put on the pressure and pulled away again in the third but Starburst kept going, however Sparks held steady to win by 10 goals.
Jets 46 v Jammie Dodgers 25
THESE two newly promoted teams put in a fine performance for the start of the season in the first division.
The goals were going with centre until 8-8 when Jets found a break and edged ahead. This seemed to unsettle Jammie Dodgers and they struggled over the next two quarters to keep up.
In the last quarter Jammie's started to pull back but they had left it too late and Jets secured a comfortable win.
All outside matches were cancelled due to bad weather.
