TAVISTOCK Athletic Club is offering free training sessions for anyone who has entered the Tavy 7 mile road race, which takes place on Sunday, October 27.
This will enable entrants to train for the race with the club, which has six running groups all led by qualified coaches. So, whatever your pace, you can find a group that suits you to improve your fitness before the race. Just bring a copy of your entry form with you to the club, which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.15pm in the PE classroom at Tavistock College.
You will be asked to complete a membership form so that the Club has details of any medical conditions and emergency contacts but no fee will be due unless, of course, you decide to join us after the event.
Tavy 7, sponsored by Gibbs Kirby, Estate Agents and supported by Abbey Garden Machinery, is the biggest road race in West Devon. The course starts at the far end of Plasterdown, turns right at Warren's Cross and then does a loop around Sampford Spiney before heading back to the start. There will also be a 1.5-mile off-road fun run incorporating the Tavy 7 Cup, a competition for all local schools. Something for the whole family to take part in and a barbecue to enjoy afterwards!
