A LADIES' Delaney Texas Scramble Open was hosted by Okehampton Golf Club last Wednesday (August 27). The event proved and extremely popular event with more than a hundred ladies taking part, representing 26 different clubs. The overall winners with net 59.4 were Heather Skyrme, Anne Brokenbrow and Lyn Hazelton (Okehampton). Second overall were K Shiells, L Moore and C Lewis (Farington Park) with net 60.6. Best combination prize went to Carol Skrzypczak (Okehampton) Carol Baker and Julie Ellis (Holsworthy) with net 63.2. Best visitor prize went to J Sweetman, J Carlton and D Dalton (Portmore) with net 62. On Saturday (August 30) an Individual Medal Competition was held. Winner of division one with net 63 was Nicholas Heath. Net 66 seemed to be a popular score and after count back David Williams was awarded second, Gareth Holt was third and Rod Milsom-Smith fourth. Jack Cornwall was the winner of division two with an excellent net 63. In second with net 66 was Aaron West on the back nine from Sam Woollacott in third. Fourth place went to Mike Charlesworth with net 69. Division three was won by Brian May with net 67, closely followed by Del Nash with net 68. Adrian Raymond was third with net 70 after count back with John Haley fourth. On Sunday (August 31) a mixed, drawn foursomes competition for the Dora Milner Trophy was held. The winners with a gross score of 89 net 68.5 were Allen Deakin and Heather Skyrme. In second place, with a gross 84 net 69 on the back nine, were Aaron West and Cherry James. Third place went to David Warren and Michelle Widdows with a gross 94 net 69.
