MEN of all ages in West Devon are being offered the chance to turn up and play football for fun.
Just Play is a project offering an informal way to play competitive matches without the hassle and commitment of arranging a venue, referee and teams. Tavistock Community Sports Centre is running a free taster session on Tuesday, June 25 between 5.30 and 7pm on the all weather pitch. Further sessions will cost just £2. Players must be 16 or over.
The scheme is sponsored by the confectionary company Mars and run by The Football Association with support from West Devon Borough Council.
The council's football development officer, Neil Jordain, said: 'Just Play is aimed at people who miss the fun of an informal kickabout with their friends or who lack the time to join a football team. There is also the added benefit of getting fit and the low cost of the sessions should make them accessible to most people.'
Participants with limited time can turn up from 6pm and enjoy just an hour's play. Sessions for women are also planned for the future.
