DURING the school holidays Tavistock Hockey Club ran its Easter hockey camp.
The camp was held in partnership with The Mount Kelly Foundation and WASP Hockey and was the most children it had at its holiday camps and shows what a great position the club is currently in to be able to run such a successful camp with such enthusiastic and qualified coaches.
Nearly 80 children took part from 17 different schools. Team of coaches from the club including men’s first team captain Tom Honey and team mates Barney Megicks (lead coach), Dom Stanbury, Sam Willetts, Ryan Passmore and ladies’ first team captain Janice Scott and team mates Jenny Pollock and Katy Kelly
Organiser Simon Fenwick said: ’The numbers were possible thanks to the work in the community being carried out in the local primary schools through a joint initiative between the club and School (Tavistock HC and Mount Kelly). Thanks to linking with OCRA we also saw a number of children from the Okehampton area attend the camp.’
Simon is now trying to finalise a high profile guest coach for a summer camps; last year former South African international Justin King was guest coach. The Summer Camp will take place on August 23-25.
