TAVISTOCK’s Ruby Stacey travelled to Ipswich to compete in the National Compulsory Level two Gymnastics competition, the hardest competition available to her age group.

Ruby, aged 11 and who attends Mary Tavy and Brentor School, performed confidently on the five pieces of apparatus, vault, bars, beam, floor and range and conditioning to score herself a very respectable 60.45, placing her 14th nationally.

Ruby and her coach were thrilled at her vault score of 14.050 giving her first place and making her the British Vault Champion for her age.

She needs to pass compulsory Level one next year to earn herself a place in the British Championships.

The talented youngster continues to train at Plymouth Swallows Gymnastics Club and as part of the South West Squad.
