SINCE 1969 Okehampton Smallbore Club has always held the final of the Devon County Smallbore Rifle Association's 'Champion of Champions' competition, the Truman trophy.

This year it was won by Greg Hamley from Yealmpton Club, with runner-up Martin Morgan of the Bideford Club.

The final of this annual competition, run by Bernard and Yvonne Rendle of the Okehampton Smallbore Club, is held over two weekends with one weekend being devoted to the finals for sport rifle and pistol shooters and the other to prone rifle.

It is a highly pressurised atmosphere making it very challenging to shoot targets consistently well over so many round before Greg Hamley was triumphant.

It is the eighth time the marksman has won this competition since 1982!
