THROUGHOUT the summer, organised dinghy sailing at Weir Quay Sailing Club, has been centred around Friday evenings where all standards of sailors and of all ages are welcome.

A team of RYA qualified instructors have provided guidance and direction so as to assist the development of techniques and skills. Overcoming new challenges and having fun in a safe environment is all part of the evening.

At the end of season, a social evening and party, held in Bere Ferrers village hall, was followed by a summary of the years activities and prizes were awarded by Jim Barnes, commodore of Weir Quay Sailing Club.

Jo Coomber was congratulated for qualifying as a dinghy instructor along with Eleanor Eastman and Ollie Waters who qualified as assistant instructors.

Eleanor won the prize for best attendance, Charles Platts was given retention of the 'award of the week' and the award for the best cadet of the year was won jointly by Joe Helps and Anna Gee.
