TAVISTOCK’s men’s first XI were in action last Friday evening in a local derby match against Plympton Grammar School Old Boys.

With a large crowd on the side lines at the newly refurbished Mount Kelly astro the pressure was on Tavistock to pick up some points after their difficult start to the season. The game started evenly with both teams having a share of possession.

It was the visitors, however, who opened the scoring through a mistake at the back leaving an empty goal to push the ball into. Tavistock responded well and quickly drew level through a Tom Honey penalty corner.

The second half was much the same, both sides evenly matched in possession but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock through a penalty corner routine which ultimately provided them with the three points.
