East Devon C 1
Tavistock A 2
TAVISTOCK A had to reshuffle its team due to some missing players, but brought an energised squad to play a new opposition.
The visitors started quickly and immediately put the home defence under pressure, with Walker, Donnelly and Hancox causing all sorts of problems. The home side were struggling to contend with the speed of the visiting attack.
Tavistock were creating many chances in front of goal but were missing that final touch which would give them the lead they deserved.
Anning was pulling the strings from the midfield and with the support of Berry, Tavistock were dangerous moving forward.
East Devon did have their chances but the back line of Gott, Honey and Tosdevin were covering most dangers and the commanding Pugsley was not giving anything away.
Tavistock took the deserved lead when Berry deftly flicked the ball into the net following a good short corner routine.
The game was Tavistock’s for the taking and the single goal lead did not reflect the game, but then the lively Walker pressed home the advantage with a determined goal.
After a few changes on the pitch, some cohesion was lost and the home side applied a lot of pressure in the hope of getting some points. Pugsley was solid and saved some dangerous attacks, Venton hunted the opposition like a man possessed.
This was a deserved win by Tavistock, following a late short corner strike from East Devon, which could not take the glory away from the visitors their the deserved three points.
