IT was perfect golfing weather for Tavistock Golf Club ladies three ball better ball open, on a course that was in excellent condition with fast greens.   

The top score of 79 points was made by Nicky Gawman, Bev Ruth (Tavistock) and Fiona Parons (Torquay). The Tavistock team of Sally Hills, Jane Hoskins and Cheryl Hall took second place with 78pts on count back from St Enodoc’s Celia Jarvis, Mary Raymont and Carol Waights and Tavistock’s Dawn Dennis, Jenny Kay and Marion Stenhouse. In fifth place with 77pts were Belinda McSherry, Fiona Lovell (Tavistock) and Gilly Jarvis (Yelverton) on count back from Shirley Tevena, Pat Wylie and Helena Mitchell also from Tavistock. Best front nine, Rosalind Williams, Marjorie Hallam and Jacqui Slocombe (Tiverton) 39pts; best back nine, Sam Avens, Elizabeth Emerson and Michelle Marsland 41pts (Staddon and Boringdon);  nearest the pin on the fourth, Judith Ezard (Okehampton); nearest the pin on 10th, Jackie Slocombe (Tiverton).
