TAVISTOCK Golf Club ladies had excellent wins in two county events. Wendy George and Belinda McSherry, with a score of 39 points, won the Warren Crocus silver division Salver. In the County Bowmaker event Bev Ruth, Nicky Gawman and Belinda McSherry won the cup with the excellent score of 80pts - a very good end to the season.
Fifty ladies played in their rearranged closed competition for the Muirhead and Leach trophies. Scoring was tight but Tracey Sutcliffe took the honours in the silver division with a nett 74 on count back from Lynn Swift, Sarah Hanson and Sally Hills.
In the bronze division Jean Thomas was first with a nett 74 on countback from Liz Loosmore. Third was Sue Eastwood with nett 75 on countback from Jenny Kay.
Winner of the Chris Leach Trophy for the best overall nett score was Donna Cann with nett 73. Donna also won the Mollie Muirhead Trophy for the best scratch score in the silver division with gross 82. Ginny Samborne with a gross 97 was the winner in the bronze division.
In the Wycisk Cup Donna Cann was first in division one with a nett 76, second, Dawn Phillott nett 77 on countback from Fran Horton. In division two Helen Phipps had an excellent nett 72 to win the cup; second was Marion Stenhouse, nett 77 and third Jenny Kay, nett 79.
In the ladies’ Daily Mail Foursomes Dawn Dennis and Fran Horton scored a nett 75 on countback from Sue Coles and Janet Kiely.
In the men’s Daily Mail Foursomes Mike Apps and Alan Greening won the day with a nett 72.5; Mike Burbidge and Dave Thomas were runners up with nett 74. The winners will represent the club in the next round the date and venue to be announced.
Forty three pairs took part in the Foster Ferris Trophy with the top 23 scoring 36pts and over. Nick Mier and Gerry Mumford were the winners with 41pts on countback from Graham and Cheryl Hall, Elaine Cooper and Paul Mace and Barry Millgan and John McGahey.
