TAVISTOCK Golf Club ladies had an excellent day at Teign Valley, winning the Western Morning News Rose Bowl. 

The two Tavistock pairs - Bev Ruth and Nicky Gawman and Belinda  McSherry and Fran Horton had a combined score of 72 points beating Boringdon Hall by one point.  Belinda and Fran also won the best individual score with 39pts. 

A delighted lady captain Janet Kiely was so proud of all of her team.

‘It was a very close call but the extra point made all the difference!’, she said.

The busy season continues at Tavistock.  The Marilyn Allen Trophy for past lady captains was played in conjunction  with the Withington Bowl. 

First in division one and winner of the Withington Bowl was Hilary Picton with a nett 70; second in the division was Dawn Phillott nett 72 and third Bridget Luckham nett 75 on countback from Tracey Sutcliffe. 

Topping division two and winner of the Marilyn Allen Trophy was past lady captain Marion Stenhouse with a nett 73; second Anne Williams with a nett 75 on countback from Sue Stewart and Carolyn Crawford. 

The ladies’ Truscott Pitman Greensomes Trophy was won by Jenny Roe and Sue Stewart with an excellent 41pts while the runners up with 35pts were Dawn Phillott and Janet Walls.

In the men’s N Chinn Stableford first in division one Dan Harris on 39pts; second was Stewart Ewers on 38pts and third Kieran Hancock on 37pts. 

Viv Wilton was first in division two with 40pts; second Lee Bartlett on 35pts and third with 34 pts Nick Nottle. 

The winners of the Kiely Cup were Mark Taylor and Mark Cottingham with a score of 72 on count back from Duwain Cottingham and Ian Jasinby.
