AS Christmas draws closer the final Poultry and Bottle Trot competitions  have been played at Tavistock Golf Club. 

In the men veterans’ Bottle Trot Ken Kendall was the first of the prize winners in division one with 39 points; in the second division Rick Read scored 42pts to take first prize and Richard Burrow with 33pts was first of the prize winners in division three. 

The men’s Bottle Trot was played over two days when 123 players took part.  Topping the division prize winners — division one Colin Nolan with 39pts; division two John Lyddon with 38pts on count back from Mike Watkins; division three Ian Phipps on 39pts.  On the second day Jim Whitbread took the honours with 43pts.  

In the ladies’ monthly Stableford a few ladies braved the cold, wet weather. In division one first was Dawn Phillott on 33pts, second Nicky Gawman with 31pts on countback from Belinda McSherry.  First in division two with 28pts was Julie Hardng; second Janet Kiely with 26pts on countback from Cheryl Hall.  Helen Heywood was first in division three with 33pts. 

Because of the weather the ladies played their Poultry Stableford over 12 holes. 

First of the division prize winners — division one Bridget Luckham on 25pts: division two Jill Millichamp with 25pts on count back from June Kendall; division three Pat Pope with 26pts.  As overall winner Pat won the Father Christmas Trophy donated by June Kendall.
