In second place, also from Tavistock, were George and Nicky Gawman with 42pts on count back from Stevie Foster and Ian Scott (Wrangaton/Yelverton) in third. With 40pts Graham and Fran Horton (Tavistock) were fourth and Gareth and Wendy George (Tavistock) took fifth place with 40 pts on count back from Dominic and Gilly Jarvis (Bigbury/Yelverton).
The ladies’ medal was played in conjunction with the Elaine Cooper Trophy. In division one Sally Hills scored a nett 74, second Bridget Luckham with nett 75 on count back from Wendy George; fourth Tracey Sutcliffe nett 78.
The star of the day and first in division two was lady captain Janet Kiely who scored a magnificent nett 64 thus cutting her handicap by four strokes. In second place, Pat Wylie nett 70 on countback from Jenny Kay and in fourth place with a net 71 Jackie Sealey.
The winner of the trophy for handicaps 19 and below was Sally Hills.
The Challenge Bowl and Pat Turnbull trophy is played over 36 holes on consecutive days. Winner of the Pat Turnbull Trophy, which is for the best gross score, was Belinda McSherry with a gross 170 and, close behind, was runner up Bev Ruth with a gross 171. The Challenge Bowl for the best net score was won by Cheryl Hall, nett 146 and the runner up was again Bev Ruth 147.
The Artisan Bowl for 17 handicappers and under was played in conjunction with the Major Port Memorial Cup for handicaps 18/28. In division one first was Damien Dee with nett 67, second Matt Boon net 68 and third was Will Caulfield with nett 69 on count back from Lee Murphy.
Top of division two and winner of the Artisans Bowl was Michel Allen with nett 64; second Andy Furse nett 68 on count back from Lewis Reid. Winner of the Major Porter Memorial Cup was Andy Avens with nett 69.
In the Pro Shop Stableford Tony Cooper scored 46pts resulting a in handicap cut of 15 to 12. In the One Club and Putter Josh Hoskin won the honours with 34pts; second Jon Hoskin 30pts and third Richard Bushell with 28pts.
The men veterans’ Diamond Jubilee Trophy is always played on the vet’s Captain Away Day and this year it was held at Boringdon Hall. Mike Beveridge in division one won the trophy with 39pts and Chas Fowler with 40pts won division two trophy.
