THIS year’s Still Cup final was held at Yelverton Golf Club between Torquay and Tavistock with Torquay taking the honours. 

Tavistock Golf Club ladies’ captain Fran Horton congratulated Torquay on their win and said: ‘The Tavistock girls have played well all season to reach the final and I am very proud of the whole squad.  The final was played in difficult conditions but the team effort on the day was fantastic!’

Tavistock’s Mixed Team Open, always a popular event, attracted 28 teams this year. 

The Tavistock team of Alan Gawman, Lynn Swift, George and Nicky Gawman topped the leader board with the excellent score of 92pts. 

Second place, with 85pts, went to Kerry Baker, Nick Mier, Graham and Bev Ruth (Tavistock) and in third place Ann Short (Tavistock) Richard Stevens, Jeff and Bernadette Maynard  (Fingle Glen) 83pts.  

In the Roland Bailey Mixed event the winners with 44pts were Dave and Peggy Burge, second Alicia Newland and Nigel Roberts 43pts. 

In third place with 40pts Mike Apps and Helen Heywood on count back from Dawn and Bill Phillott and Ken and June Kendall.

In the ladies’ Allen Candlesticks competition Jenny Kay with 37pts was first in division one and winner of the trophy. 

Second in the division was Sue Gawman 36pts and third Kerry Baker 35pts on count back from Nicky Gawman and Hilary Picton. 

In  division two, first Carolyn Crawford 34pts, second Nikkie Ormond 33pts and in third place Margaret Smith 32pts.
