IN the first open of the year at Tavistock Golf Club 154 golfers took part in the  men’s four ball better ball Open. 

Scoring was tight but the partnership of two Tavistock players,Dave Symons and Nigel Roberts, took the honours with 47 points on countback from Tavistock’s Nick Coe and Shaun Daymond. 

The Tavistock pairing of Mark Thompson and Lee Smart took third place with 45pts on countback from Christopher Evans and Dan Parry of  Kendallshire Golf Club.   B D  Richardson and Michael Halford from Yelverton took fifth place  with 44pts   on countback from the Tavistock pair Paul Crump and Dave Turnbull and Yelverton’s D Hyslop and Steve Brittain.

The competition was a good start of the season for Tavistock.

In the junior Stableford Jamie Ninnis was first with 30pts on count back from Louis Inacio.  Tom White was third with 29pts.

The ladies had another Fun Day with the lady veterans versus the ladies  — a four ball better ball Pre Coronation v Post Coronation Stableford, the winners scoring the most accumulative points.

It was a great ’fun’ game  but very competitive with the Post Coronation team taking the ’crown’ with 446pts with the Post Coronation team not far behind with 442pts.
