OKEHAMPTON Golf Club hosted the Devon County Ladies’ Golf Association North and East Foursomes for the Western Morning News Cup last week.
Fifty six pairs of ladies entered the competition with each club nominating three pairs, the best two scores to count.
The winners of the Western Morning News Cup with a combined score of 65 points were Maggie Caws and Francis Harbon and Marcia Jones and Marcia Collett from Okehampton and the runners up were Fingle Glen with 59 points.
The highest scoring couple of the day was Cherry James and Sue Stanbury with 39 points also from Okehampton.
On Saturday in beautiful conditions President’s Day was held.
A large field entered into a four ball better ball full handicap competition which also incorporated lots of prizes along the way. A presentation of prizes was held in the club house afterwards by the club president Stuart Wilson.
The winners were Alan Grimshaw and Mike Davis with 49 points followed into second by Paul Rogers and Russell Bowden with 47pts. Third place went to Andrew Rogers and Tim Andrews with 46 points.
Winners of the mixed were Rob and Lynda Walker with 41pts after countback on the back nine, from, in second. Allen and Penny Deakin.
Members agreed a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
